A traineeship is a great way for young people aged 16-18 to get onto the career ladder in a structured and flexible way, to gain valuable life skills in order to become more work-place ready and offering an entry route into the world of work. Employers can build a pool of high quality future recruits.Trainees learn essential employability skills and gain work experience relevant to the industry sector they want to work in. Programmes last between 8 and 13 weeks and are made up of three key elements:
A work placement in the right sector
Functional skills – Improving English and Maths up to level 2
Employability skills/work preparation activity – such as CV writing
Upon successful competition of the traineeship, individuals can start their working life – whether through an apprenticeship or another paid job.
